  • How do I get a quote from Samson Awnings?

    Simply send us an email directly or through our contact form and include the following information: 1. Images/photos of the area you are looking to have the product installed? 2. Approximate width, and projection in metres? 3. Supply and delivered or supplied and installed? 4. Please specify the product you looking to purchase if known, i.e Fixed veranda, retractable fabric awning, glass room, umbrella/parasols, etc.. 5. What are you looking to achieve from these products. i.e. Sun protection, all year protection or rain protection. 6. Your location/address? Best telephone contact number? We very much like to establish whether one of our many products are suitable and the rough prices before we commit to a site visit or other work such as drawngs, etc. Once we have the information we can call or email you for further clarification and provide pricing as soon as possible for you to review.

  • Do you supply Glass Extensions?

    Yes we do, but not as an ‘extension’ in the traditional sense of the word on a house. The glass structures we offer are generally called glass verandas by most people and create a glass canopy for outside use, fitted against an existing building wall. We have wall mounted but also stand alone glass and polycarbonate roof verandas and now offer a flat roof design as well as the more traditional angled lean to systems. (more…)

  • How much does a retractable awning cost?

    A high quality, made to measure retractable patio awning typically starts from around £2,000, with most fully featured installations falling between £2,000 and £8,000 depending on size, model and specification. You will see awnings advertised for £199–£999, but these are very different products – usually light duty designs intended only for occasional use in calm, sunny conditions, rather than longer term, all weather installations.   • What wind speeds will an awning withstand?

    Generally a self supporting retractable awning wil stand up to wind speeds of around 20mph. Most higher specification awnings will have a tested and certified wind rating based on km/h or the Beaufort scale, but of course no one is ever really monitoring the wind speed in their back garden or patio to make a judgement on this… (more…)

  • Can I install a retractable awning by myself?

    Yes, it is perfectly possible, but most of the awnings are very heavy and require a minimum of 2 people for installation and lifting into place. The wall bracket fixtures are one of the most important components to ensure a sound and safe installation and the positioning and fixing of these brackets should be carefully considered. Extra brackets are frequently used to spread the weight across a wall safely. (more…)

  • What is the Best All Year Round Solution?

    This isn’t that easy to answer, as it depends on your expectations. ‘All year round’ for many commercial applications may actually mean most months, but not the coldest winter months. For domestic application it may mean just the ability to prevent rain when it falls in the summer months. A true all year round solution will be a very high specification indeed. (more…)

    Yes we do, the definition and perception of which varies slightly, but is usually a visual detail in the framework and supporting posts.
