A TERRACE COVER OR CANOPY IS ANY FORM OF SMALL OR LARGE FIXED STRUCTURE WEATHER PROTECTION SYSTEM.

Samson Awnings supply bespoke high quality products which are sure to meet your needs.

Generally for our UK weather, a fixed roof structure on a framework is the only true way to have all year round protection from our ever increasingly diverse climate. All of our fixed roof canopies and verandas are made from aluminium with either a polycarbonate or toughened glass roof.

These stylish structures usually have rainwater guttering built in and optional extras available for infilling the sides and front as required.

Items such as vertical blinds, zip screens, sliding glass doors and so on if you want to close in some or all of the sides and front.

The purchase of any terrace cover should be well thought out as many have different characteristics; luxury transparent glass glazing, cost-effective polycarbonate inserts, retractable covers, interaction with various awning products and more. With this in mind, you can find the terrace cover and accessories to best suit your needs.

If you regularly spend time outdoors throughout the year then you will find that a terrace cover is the ideal choice for you. It’s liquid-impervious surface helps keep you dry so you can continue to entertain guests or relax in the garden in sun or rain.

Terrace Cover is just a term we use to describe these products however they are also recognised as:

Terrace Canopy | Patio Roof | Glass Veranda or Glass Roof

Most of our fixed canopy systems are made to measure in width and projection and are available in various kit forms for easy assembly on site. We offer a supply only or supplied and installed service throughout the majority of the UK. (some areas not covered)

GLASS VERANDAS

The glass veranda systems we offer provide the most light and clear vision of any product and enable small, medium or large areas to be covered and used all year round. The glass veranda will be less noisy in heavy rain than polycarbonate but glass if heavier so the structures have to accommodate this in the design and support sections.

Most glass veranda systems we supply will be strong enough to take further products and offer additional protection for the sides and front to ultimately fully enclose the structure to form an ‘outdoor room’.

For additional outdoor covered space with proper protection from the elements, a glass veranda or room is ideal for commercial use as you do not have to manage the roof at all but only how much or little the side infills are utilised

depending on the weather at any time.

Additional infrared halogen heating and LED lighting can all be incorporated to provide more use at night and in cooler weather. Integral fabric blinds can be fitted on top of or underneath the glass roof to control intense sunshine in the hottest months.

These include vertical ‘zip’ fabric blinds and glass sliding or folding doors.

The Erhardt T100 and T150  and Terrazza glass veranda systems can take many products and usually glass is preferred whether it be fixed or frameless sliding glass doors for maximum light and vision to truly feel outdoors all year round.

It is quite usual to infill at least one side of a canopy when reasonably exposed in a terrace or patio area to help prevent the prevailing wind and the cooling effect this will have. Of course, it also prevents sideways rain driving under the roof when combined with the wind and may also be used for increased privacy, comfort and protection.

To summarise, the fixed glass or polycarbonate roof system is ideal for any home, where there is an outdoor space leading directly off a living room, kitchen or utility room.

This enables you to benefit from being able to use the area for many more months of the year. In these days of remaining within the U.K. we can enjoy our own country for longer periods outdoors. Reasons to stay at home, reduce travelling, and enjoy more time outside in many weather conditions.

POLYCARBONATE VERANDAS

Most polycarbonate roof systems are used for either covering areas in and around gardens and patios or for car ports. They are an easy addition of covered space providing rain protection all year round. Most simple ‘lean to’ roof systems only need a wall plate fixing and then the correct number of support posts to hold the roof beams and polycarbonate inserts.

A suitable pitch for the dispersal of rainwater is recommended and concrete pads for the support and stability of the front profile support posts.

Each aluminium front support post used in our ‘Samson’ series, will also act as a rainwater drainage down pipe with the rainwater coming directly down the leg from the guttering at the front and exiting wherever required either straight onto the ground or away into a soakaway or existing drainage pipework.
