Named suitably due to its free-standing option, the Simplicity Free is a glass roof system that can be wall-mounted or entirely free-standing, and can be utilised as both a glass veranda or car port.
Whilst lockdown restrictions were easing, Lincoln University placed an order with our team at Samson for three large retractable butterfly awning systems, needed to create shelter for an outdoor bar seating area.
The butterfly awning system is a very popular option due to its pleasing appearance, retractable sun and rain protection qualities, as well as the easily retractable, self-supported system. Combined with LED lighting and infrared heaters, this project is a great example of how butterfly awnings can offer the perfect outdoor cover for large areas.
Sizing
Lincoln University gained an extra 234 square metres (or 2,518 square feet!) of covered outdoor space using these awnings enabling a far more pleasant and healthier environment for staff and students to enjoy.
Each system can be sized to offer cover of up to 7m x 8m. The goalpost aluminium frame is manufactured up to 7m long and each side can carry a retractable awning with a projection of up to 4m each side.
These particular systems were all 7m long with 2 no, Markilux 5010 awnings either side, projecting 4m each and operated by remote control, electric operation for ease of management.

2020 encouraged each and every one of us to spend more time outdoors, because it was the only place we could venture to!
