What electrical supply do I need and do I need a Part P electrician?
An electric awning runs from a standard 240V mains supply. A fused spur or socket near the awning is usually sufficient, and the motor and sensors draw very little power.
Most awning installers are not also qualified electricians and a suitable power supply should be made available for the electric awning, even if it might be temporary until you have other electrical work carried out at your home.
Any direct connection required into your mains should be made by a qualified electrician to comply with Part P of the Building Regulations and to provide the appropriate certification. We can advise on the supply position; the electrical connection is typically arranged separately by a qualified local electrician.
