What glazing options are available for Glass outdoor rooms?
A glass outdoor (or garden) room will always only use single glazed glass sections. It is an ‘outdoor’ room and not designed with damp proof flooring or other internal house room specifications.
The exact glazing used varies from manufacturer and also with the sizes for the glass sections.
Many mid range glass rooms will use 8mm laminated glass for safety when fitted in the roof sections. Higher quality and larger glass rooms will use either 10mm or 12mm laminated glass on the roof.
The glass sliding doors are mainly 10mm toughened glass and always clear for maximum light and vision
The roof is usually clear, but some customers specify tinted glass when the room is purely south facing and they want more permanent sun shading. Tinted glass can cut down glare when it is full sun but so can a retractable roof blind fitted internally or externally with more control over different seasons.
We’ll recommend the right glazing for your aspect and how you plan to use the space.
