LARGE BUTTERFLY AWNING SYSTEM WITH HEATING AND LIGHTING

The Old Bridge at Huntingdon is an 18th century townhouse hotel sitting on the banks of the River Ouse. It has been a superb hotel and restaurant and also wine shop for many years now and we were pleased to work with the hotel on this exciting project.

The creation of weather protection and additional covered seating space for customers in the existing garden following a light refurbishment.

We also recovered some older existing awning covers to refresh their look and operation.

The Syncra butterfly awning system is a favourite of ours and we have installed many of these over the years and this was like a lot of them, the largest single size model at 7m long with 2 awnings each projecting 4m to provide a total of 56 square metres of cover.

The Syncra system was a ground fixture model requiring 2 concrete pads and the power cables to be available on one side to link up with the lighting, heating and the electric awning motors.

The beautiful textured finish Havana Brown was the chosen finish for the aluminium framework and the awning cassettes were matched perfectly. The Markilux 5010 full cassette awnings were specified as one of a few awnings which can extend the 4000mm and be stable when used. Their double chain link tensioning system and drop forged aluminum knuckle joints are the best you can expect in any awning.

Of course, and now a standard feature in any of our electric awnings, we included the vibrabox sensors to ensure if anyone leaves the awnings extended and strong winds arrive the awnings will retract fully to safety.

The awnings are remote control operated along with the heating and lighting too, all adjustable to suit the requirements during daytime and the night time.

4 no. 2500 watt infra-red heaters will help to deal with the cooler autumn and spring evenings and the LED lighting also offers mood or real light when required.
