The installation of 3 butterfly awning systems for DIY retail giant B&Q at one of their largest stores, located at Cribbs Causeway, a shopping complex near to Bristol.

With the store undergoing refurbishment, we were contacted to install two Markilux Syncra Flex systems, as well as one Markilux Syncra Uno systems. These awnings featured the Markilux 1700 awning, which were needed to cover an area of flower and plant displays with adverse weather conditions.

The Syncra aluminium framework system is one of the only framework systems we would recommend in a commercial environment to stand alone and take all the forces of 2 7m x 4m awnings day and night. It is typically overengineered, German manufactured, super smooth and always finished in one of many beautiful paint textured finishes for the best durability over time. It is also available as a ground fixing system or a standalone, weight box supported system.

The Cribbs Causeway B&Q concept home improvement store is one of only four of its kind worldwide. It feels both modern and exciting, and these particular Markilux awnings add a bespoke functionality to the outside spaces. The reliability and performance of these awnings are why they were specially requested for this project.

Finished off with a green and white stripe effect, these awnings blend in whilst still managing to impress. As you can see, they add to the overall visual appeal of this outdoor area.

This installation is a fantastic example of the broad range of unique applications in which awnings can be used commercially. Here they are utilised for more than just their sublime looks, but also their incredibly practical applications.
