Sunsilk from Markilux
The high-tech sun protection fabric made from polyester fibres is of a fundamentally different design than conventional awning materials. It is more supple and smoother but still essentially more durable and has a unique silky textile character and is easy to clean.

The sun protection fabric that is offered on markilux® awnings as “markilux-sunsilk” offers a number of technical advantages, such as e.g. low formation of waves and winding folds.
In the seam area the material is doubled. This leads to stretching in the seam area and to a droop between the seams. Due to the fact that the fabric is more elastic than conventional materials and the thickness of the cover is lower, the amount of seam winding is smaller. This causes less winding folds than before and could be one of the greatest advantages of markilux®-sunsilk.
A new feature is also that markilux®-sunsilk stands out due to an unmistakeable silky surface and the enormously high colour brilliance – even in diffused daylight.
The direct dying of fibres using special dyes makes costly yarn mixes unnecessary and thus enables short-term orientation to current fashion trends due to an almost unlimited variety of shades. The graphic effect of many designs is additionally upgraded thanks to extremely fine drawing of the structures.
When selecting the designs it is important to look at them in a back light – daylight is best.
The smooth surface means there is less danger of soiling. In spite of this, this new sun protection fabric is protected against dirt using the – at the present time unsurpassed finishes – SFC and Teflon.
According to the Schmitz-Werke markilux®-sunsilk is superior to conventional awning materials in many respects.

Due to the increase in motorisation of awnings and solar shading units, the stress placed on fabrics has increased . This leads to a significant impairment of the awning’s appearance.
By virtue of a new high-compression technology covers by markilux® can now be fitted with a much thinner overlap bond (excluding conservatory covers for the markilux®- 8000 and markilux®- 8500, Perfotex, and other collections).
Value adding affects of the new adhesive technology:
High-compression overlap bond
Inured to heat and cold, water resistant and UV-stable under normal circumstances
Higher durability through plain cover surface
No premature aging through UV-radiation or environ-mental influences at the most sensitive part of the cover – the thread
Improved, homogeneous appearance without bother some threads
Optimised dispersion of forces through holohedral overlap bond
No fraying of threads through roller support
