Semi-Cassette Awnings
Semi-Cassette awnings explained
Not to be confused with open cassette awnings, the semi cassette still offers varying degrees of protection to the fabric although the arms do not retract into this type of cassette. Not having to work within the constraints of the closed cassette size semi cassette awnings can offer more in terms of extended arm sizes, gas strut supports, lighting and other add ons that would not be possible on full casette awnings.
The Markilux 1500 and 1550 are good examples - operated with gas piston arms as well as the normal knuckle arms they keep the fabric particularly taut even when the awning is only partially extended. The Shade Plus and Traditional Valance can be fitted to the 1500, which can be manually or electrically operated. The 1550 which is fitted with halogen lights as standard on the front lead bar has to be operated electrically.

The Markilux 1600 is identical to the 1500 except that is has twin chain link arms and a different extension capacity. The size range of the 1500 and 1550 is 6.6 metres wide with a maximum of 3.5 metre extension, the 1600 extension can reach to 4 metres. These awnings can be fitted with acrylic or the new sunsilk fabrics from the Swela Collection.
Another good semi cassette awning is the Winsol Bandana, an awning that offers greater extension than its width if required as the arms cross over each other.
